What they Needed
Home to the Washburn University Ichabods basketball teams and women’s volleyball team, Lee Arena is a 4150-seat indoor sports venue that draws some of the largest crowds in NCAA Division II. The arena is also used for graduation ceremonies and other events which sometime need a stage. The university asked Sound Products, “We’d like you to take us up to the big time!”. Sound Products worked closely with Washburn to develop and design a high performance audio system that generates fan excitement.
Suggested Solutions
- Community I SERIES loudspeakers
- Ashly Protea DSP for push-button presets for the arena’s different configurations
- Community D5 ceiling loudspeakers in the Ichabod Room which is used for press conferences
- Ashly and Crown amplifiers
- Roland digital mixer
- Shure wired and wireless microphones
- Denon solid state music player
Design
Given the varied uses of the arena, Sound Products worked closely with Washburn to determine the appropriate loud speaker system and the variety of configurations needed for optimal use.
Install
Our Sound Products techs love sport venue installations, having done many over the years. The real thrill comes at the completion of the installation. In this instance, an alumni booster commented after the audio system was installed at an annual coaches dinner, “This is always a wonderful event, but it’s never been as great as this!”
Support
Sound Products is always just a call away for service and support. Scheduled maintenance at the start of the basketball season is also available to ensure the audio system is performing in peak condition.
